Higher fees for arbitrators from 1 January 2024
The SCC is increasing the fees for arbitrators handling cases under the SCC Arbitration Rules and the SCC Expedited Arbitration Rules. The decision is a response to the need to adjust for inflation. The SCC will continue providing arbitrators fair and competitive remuneration for their services. The new schedules of costs will apply to all SCC arbitrations commencing 1 January 2024 or thereafter.

SCC Spotlight Talk: Lina Bergkvist
The SCC was among the first arbitration institutions in the world to provide for summary procedure in its arbitration rules. Summary proceedings can be an efficient way to resolve a dispute or material claim swiftly without the need for the full arbitral process. By breaking out issues it is possible to make the arbitration more time- and cost efficient. Lina Bergkvist, Partner at Zellberg Law Firm, has been engaged in commercial dispute resolutions since 2005 and in her view summary proceedings is a very useful tool.

New SCC Practice Note: Summary Procedure Decisions
In 2017, the SCC Arbitration Institute took a leap forward by introducing the summary procedure into its arbitration rules. In a new Practice Note, SCC Intern Yi Ting Sam and Legal Counsel Jake Lowther have analysed the summary procedure decisions in SCC cases from 2017 to 2022.
